Join us as we hear from women leaders who are actively working to change the status quo; who are lending their skills, expertise and experience to help others lead a better life.

Speakers include:

Jody Steinhauer, has received numerous prestigious awards for her business – The Bargains Group, but her passion is the work she does to support the homeless. Twenty years ago she founded Project Winter Survival and Project Water to support those living on the streets. The kits distributed often make the difference between life and death. Through the non-profit arm to her business – Exchange and Change –she provides Kits for a Cause to organizations wanting to give back.

Keka DasGupta, a TEDx speaker, moves people from feeling helpless to helpful through a powerful, free currency called: gratitude. She is the founder of a platform called, “The Art of Life-ing” (doing life on-purpose) which helps people, businesses and schools create more meaningful, happy lives through mindset and personal development initiatives that include keynotes, interactive workshops and online programming.

Merri Macartney has had more than her share of life’s challenges and yet she stays positive and hopeful. What is her secret? It’s her ability to face them head on with humour. She has come to realize that things could always be worse. A professional speaker, Merri talks on how humour can provide the emotional supercharge needed when facing adversity. Humour not only changes yourself but also changes the people in your world.

And there will be a panel discussion on mental health, with panelists:

  • Shawna Percy, a TEDx speaker, published author, and the President of Life Voice Canada Inc. Shawna is passionate about mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
  • Nancy Watt, an experienced improv professional, runs an improv workshop series for youth at risk in Hamilton, which lowers social anxiety disorder and assists the youth in forming meaningful bonds.
  • Maria Estrada, a success story of a woman whose life path changed for the better the day she accessed her first United Way supported agency. She knows first hand what works and what doesn’t.

The panel will be moderated by Amy Vodarek, who is an executive coach and co-author of Good Enough: Embrace who you are. Unleash your Brilliance.

And there’s more – exhibits, appetizers, desserts and a glass of wine is included in the ticket price. We will also be hosting a raffle, with proceeds going to the United Way – so bring cash and get ready to be generous.
