We must find time to stop and thank the people who make a difference in our lives.-John F. Kennedy
How often do you thank someone or pass on a compliment? Like most of us, we may think it but don’t do it. Life is too busy and by the time the moment to do so has passed, we moved on.
Yet, and this is big yet, it can make such a difference. As a volunteer I am editor of our local paper, which comes out ten times a year, is 32-36 pages usually and distributed to over 3,500 households. I give all these numbers because it’s a big job and a hefty time commitment but one that I do willingly (most of the time).
Last week one of our readers sent me a glowing compliment on the paper. It just made my day, my week, truth be told, and I quickly shared it with the rest of the team of volunteers.
As a result, I suspect we are all more enthusiastic about what we do, because often all we get are the complaints. We have renewed interest in what we are trying to achieve, and I suspect, if this was a paid gig, we’d be working harder.
I keep reading about 30-day challenges for this and that.
So here’s my 30-day challenge for you, every day for 30 days, give positive feedback to someone or better still, several people. It could be a family member, a friend, the waitress or someone you work with. Keep track and watch what happens as a result.
We are all so quick to criticize and be negative. Let’s turn this around.
Thirty days. Can you do it? I double dare you. Plus I guarantee you will feel better too.
Keep me posted. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
